Diddlers

In recent years years many events have led to the development of sex offender laws. These laws are long overdue and, in my opinion, are not enough to protect innocent children and the general public from being subjected to possible attacks by these monsters. The Commonwealth of Massachussetts currently requires level 2 and 3 sex offenders be registered in the community in which they live or work. The law also provides for the informing of the public when a level 3 sex offender moves into the community. Many communities are taking it a step further and passing local legislation barring these devients from living or working within areas which meet a certain criteria. Some of those criteria include schools, parks, daycare centers, and churches. Advocates for the rights of these monsters tend to ignore the plight of those who have suffered at the hands of these indivduals and will have you believe these individuals are in need of help, they are victims. These people, in my opinion, should not be entitled to help. Child molesters will not be "cured" by therapy or counseling. They are and will continue to be individuals who will continue in their devient course. In the coming months i will be introducing an ordinance proposal requiring all level 3 and level 2 sex offenders be registered in the City of North Adams. I will also propose that these monsters be restricted as to where thay may live and also require stronger enforcement of the requirements of the registration process. These people move freely about and fail to notify as to their whereabouts. If they don't register or inform of address change they currently face minor consoquense. As I progress through this process I will be asking for community input. I feel this issue is one that affects our entire community and would welcome any thoughts.

Traffic

Traffic, not the movie with Michael Douglas and Benicio Del Toro but the one about Dunkachino....the intersection was poorly designed and needs to have a serious reevaluation done as to it's functnality. How long shall we gripe about this dangerous intersection until something is done? Elderly crossing from St. Josephs court, vehicles turning north or south, or going east and west for that matter, they all do so at their own peril. Tractor trailers sticking out into Rt. 2 at rush hour, this is unacceptable. The City signed the contract for this debacle and the City needs to fix this mess. Are there other areas in the city that need to be looked at?
